Held and Heard is a campaign to encourage young LGBTQIA+
students who attend Christian colleges to reflect on shame and
form communities in order to break down stigmas surrounding
their identity.
As part of the campaign, I designed an app to connect these students so they can express themselves vulnerably in a safe environment. The app includes daily reflective journals, weekly video chats and chat rooms with fellow LGBTQIA+ members, as well as live events and workshops. The visual system emphasizes warmth to create a safe and welcoming space for app members.
The app consists of three parts as well as accessibility controls.

The app contains 3 sections of reflective
journal questions that target areas of
Held & Heard’s mission.
Held & Heard’s Chatroom brings
together LGBTQIA+ Christian college
students from across the nation to
discuss their experiences and
form connections.

Held & Heard’s events bring to light
important topics surrounding identity within the LGBTQIA+ Christian community. Students have the chance to come together to create change.
As ways of reaching the target audience, Held & Heard uses targeted ads and hidden business cards across Christian College campuses.
